ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS RULE:
The Wayland Country Club Men’s Inner Club Rules Committee has
determined that certain areas of the golf course are subject to the Abnormal
Ground Conditions Rule (USGA Rules of Golf, Rule 25-1)
Until further notice, if your ball comes to rest in an area that has no grass
growing in it, due to a previous collection of ground water, or is being treated to
repair that condition, it will be deemed as “Ground Under Repair” whether
marked or not.
It should be a part of the course that, under normal circumstances, would be in
average playing condition. It must be an area that is larger than one square
foot, not a divot, and located within tree line to tree line of the hole you are
playing. Any relief taken must be taken in an area of similar circumstance (A ball
in the rough may not be dropped into fairway short grass). Except when the
ball is in a hazard, the player may take relief, by dropping within one club length,
at the nearest point of relief, and not closer to the hole.
This condition, according to Rule 25-1a must interfere with the player’s stance or
the area of his intended swing. The player must verbally note the presence of
this condition and his intention to take relief, to his playing partners before
proceeding.
